Shale Trails of Sertã

Route 3 in Sertã is a 10.1km circular route that starts next to the Quintã Primary School. In total, you should expect to spend about 4 hours completing the route, which will include challenging ascents and descents. The highest point of the route is 339 meters above mean sea level, and the lowest point is only 125 meters above mean sea level.

Along the way you may find places worthy of your attention. Just 330 meters from the starting point you will find the Casarão da Quintã. A building that dates back approximately 100 years. History tells that the house belonged to a nobleman who owned most of the land that currently corresponds to Quintã. A little further on you can admire the fantastic Chapel of St. Benedict.

In the midst of your adventure, and to keep you from getting discouraged, you’ll find the Ribeira Mill where the beautiful scenery will help you regain your energy. It’s also a great place to stop and catch your breath, enjoying the swings there. Finally, to end in style, just 2100 meters from the end of the trail you’ll find a beautiful and calm lagoon.

We challenge you to venture along the trails of this route and come relax at our hotel at the end of the day.
